PSP (PlayStation Portable) v4.00 Update

17 06 2008

I wanted to give you all a heads up that a new PSP system software update, v4.00, will be released soon, adding Google Internet search directly to the XMB (XrossMediaBar) interface.

This new upgrade replicates the Google Internet search experience, delivering the same search results that you’d get at And with a search history recall of 20 items, Web searches couldn’t be easier.

After you download and install the firmware on your PSP, click on the XMB’s Network icon and then the new Internet Search icon. Enter your keywords and then let Google’s algorithms do the work. You’ll need to be connected to the Internet via a wireless access point or Wi-Fi hotspot. Googling something on the go has never been more convenient on your PSP.

Another new feature delivered through the 4.00 update is the ability to change viewing speed during playback of videos stored on your Memory Stick PRO Duo, so you can speed through or slow down what you’re watching. To do this simply press the up or down directional buttons while playing a video. Enjoy!

PS3 Firmware 2.30 now Live!

15 04 2008

Welcome back dear vistor,

Today is the day I have been waiting for for a long time now. PS3 Firmware 2.30 is out now and ready for you to install. This update brings DTS-HD sound to your PlayStation 3 but more importantly it give us a new PS Store.

As you might now by now I Live in the Netherlands so I don’t now If the store has some problems like we have. I noticed this morning that the images don’t load at some spots plus you can’t acces all the pictures for the info. Plus I noticed a little fault, When you browse the catagories you can clearly see two times ‘Family’.

I hope they fix this before the MGO Beta hits the store 😉

It’s oh so fast and oh so drop dead gorgeous :D!

SCEE announces next PSN Store update, including MGO beta [UPDATE]

11 04 2008

SCEE has confirmed that the PSN Store redesign will be going live on April 15th. It has also been revealed that the European Store won’t get updated until Thursday the 17th, but it should be worth the wait. A list of upcoming content was included in the press release, including the Metal Gear Online beta. From the looks of things, it’ll be an open beta for anyone who wants to take part, unlike in the US or Japan where beta keys were handed out with Metal Gear Solid 4 preorders. Here’s what we can expect to see next Thursday:

  • Metal Gear Online Premiere Beta
  • Warhawk: Operation Broken Mirror expansion
  • Lair “Diabolical Dragons” pack
  • Lair “Skyguard Upgrade” pack
  • “A collection of trailers including the latest for GTA IV
  • Sega Superstar Tennis demo

Looks like that “special update” we were promised was pointing towards the MGO beta. Nice to see Europe not getting shafted in the end — in fact, they get the best deal. A seemingly open beta. We’re not sure whether the content listed above is exhaustive, but assume for now that it is. We’ll let you know if we find out otherwise.

[UPDATE] Konami has confirmed that the beta will be completely open and will last between April 21st and May 6th. After May 6th the beta client will be removed from the PSN Store.

The only negative point I can say about this update is that the Beta will open up four days after the release. Oh well atleast Europe isn’t treated like crap this time 😉
